## 0. getting an interview - have a great CV tailored to the job offer - have a great LinkedIn profile tailored to the field - have a great social network + work experiences ## 1. recruiter/HR screening - show that you know/care about this company and wants to work there - have an elevator pitch to present yourself and why you are a good fit to the role - answer the salary question ("What are your salary expectation") without giving an actual number - trick: get recruiter to give you their range and tell them you can work with that. and you want to revisit that number when you know more about the role and get an offer ## 2. team leader/manager + tech lead - answer their questions earnestly; externalize your thought process; if you dont know, tell them you dont know - get them to talk more than you do (people love to talk!) - use the STAR method to answer questions - have questions prepared for them - NEVER TALK ABOUT COMPENSATION($$) HERE ## 3. team leader/manager + an even higher person - get ready for more questions about your life and experience - be ready to answer "where do you see yourself in five year"; show that you want to progress in that company - NEVER TALK ABOUT COMPENSATION($$) HERE ## (maybe) you get a technical test of some kind ## 4. HR again with a tentative offer - they will inquire how it went in the interviews and if you're interested: be overly enthusiastic!!! - they will inquire again about compensation. be careful not to give a number first to avoid low balling you - HR will get you to a background check waver: list where you had lived withing the past 5 years + past employers ## 5. the actual offer - you will receive a formal offer with all the details written down - BEWARE: often they will tell you the offer is only valid for 24 hours. it is not true! they really want you and will tolerate you take more than one day to ponder the offer - make sure to check everything in the job offer before accepting
